Positive Instagram Accounts!

Hello interweb friends!

Of course with fear and media overload and self-quarantine times in the year 2020, it can be hard to try to stay positive. I mean, I find it hard to stay positive on a regular day too. So what I’ve found in the past year or so is that curating my Instagram feed so that it’s positive and uplifting, as well as just generally beautiful and inspiring to look at. It can still be sad, but I think acknowledging your feelings is the first step. I follow a good handful of artists in different mediums on Instagram as well but for this post I’ll attach more mental health and body image accounts that keep me positive. (If you want me to post about the fun art accounts I follow, let me know) :)

Hi.ur.beautiful

Body positivity account. It’s generally a compilation of different posts and works from different people. Credit is given to each original creator so it’s a nice page to find other accounts.

Myselflovesupply

Body positivity, mental health care, and self love. Borrows and reposts from other artists but also posts their own quotes and things. Below is one of my favourites that they have reposted from another artist.

Thelatestkate

Self described in Instagram bio as “Artist, Anxious person”. An instagram filled with artwork of animals with uplifting comments.

Sadgirlsclub

A compilation of posts from other independent creators. An account focusing on mental health, run by Women of Colour!

Their website is here too: https://sadgirlsclub.org

I_weigh

An account for inclusivity, body positivity, and mental health love. Founded by The Good Place actress Jameela Jamil. It started with images of people writing “I weigh” and adding what they weigh in their lives and relationships and human qualities as opposed to their numerical weight. Jameela's original post that started the trend is attached below. (This is one of my personal fave accounts)

Bodyposipanda

BODY POSITIVITY and love!!! An account for body positivity and feminism. Created by Megan Jayne Crabbe. I love her and think she is absolutely gorgeous. In my own journey to love my body more, she is an inspiration.

Theofficialsadghostclub

From Instagram bio: “A club for everyone. Raising positive mental health awareness through comics and community”. Cartoons of this adorable ghost that acknowledges exactly how I feel at different moments and tells me it's ok. (Another one of my personal faves)

Also: Their website for pins and apparel and art https://thesadghostclub.com

Gemma Correll

A pretty new artist I’ve discovered and love. Posts and drawings regarding mental health and adulthood. Fun and colourful!

Also has a website: https://www.gemmacorrell.com

Khrystyana

I found her through America’s Next Top Model Cycle 24. She is all for body positivity and authenticity. She acknowledges some of the fake/edited posts of the internet and photoshoots and shows some of the real, authentic, candid things. She has also hosted public catwalks for body positivity called The Real Catwalk. I love her. (Somewhat of a side note: She did an American Eagle jeggings campaign and I was like “omg I love Khrystyana, she is so gorgeous and her body type is closer to my body type, I gotta try these jeans.” And, I love them. I love American Eagle jeggings and jeans. So, thanks Khrystyana!)

1st image below from one of the public catwalks she hosted in 2018.

Since our society has become so dependant and somewhat obsessed with social media, let's find ways to make it positive instead of shameful. I’ve found support and reassurance through these Instagram pages and posts (as silly as it may sound). They’ve helped me acknowledge my body image and mental health thoughts and reframe them in a more productive way. Of course, I'm still working on it, but trying to have more positive thinking can get us through the toughest of times. I know it can be preached a lot and is easy to roll your eyes at and ignore, I know I have. But, trust me, I was/am a pessimist, and now the best way for us to get through hard times and try to build ourselves up is with positivity. And if it comes along with a cute drawing of a ghost, all the better.

Burnout is real

Hey there, I haven't been on here for a number of months. I feel bad about that. But for a while I haven't felt like I've had anything...
